Quick answer
Can AI make CompTIA practice questions from your study notes?
Yes. Upload your notes or a course PDF, or paste a captioned YouTube training video, and QuerySpark writes multiple choice questions on Security+, A+, Network+ or CySA+ topics with an explanation for every answer, usually 10 to 20 per set in about a minute. Organize your notes by CompTIA's free exam objectives so the questions cover what is tested. It does not write performance-based questions and is not an official CompTIA practice test.

Study plan
How to study for Security+ and other CompTIA exams
CompTIA exams mix multiple choice (some with more than one correct answer) with performance-based questions. Plan for both.
- 01
Download the exam objectives
CompTIA publishes free exam objectives for every certification, listing each domain and objective. Check that they match your exam code, then use them as a checklist.
- 02
Learn an objective, then question it
Watch the video or read the chapter for one objective, upload your notes or paste the video link, and answer a set before moving to the next.
- 03
Drill ports, protocols and acronyms daily
A+, Network+ and Security+ all reward memorization. Turn them into flashcards and review a few minutes every day instead of cramming them at the end.
- 04
Practice performance-based questions separately
Performance-based questions ask you to configure, match or troubleshoot in a simulated environment. Practice them in labs or with a course that includes simulations.
Daily volume
How many practice questions should you do before a CompTIA exam?
Enough to cover every objective at least once, then enough mixed practice to see your weakest domain clearly. While learning, 15 to 30 questions on the objective you just finished is plenty. During review, 50 to 100 mixed questions a day is a common pace.
Be careful with repeated practice exams. After a second pass you start remembering answers rather than reasoning them out, and scores look better than your knowledge is. Fresh questions generated from your notes on a weak domain are a quick honesty check.
| Phase | Questions a day | Where the questions come from |
|---|---|---|
| Learning the objectives | 15 to 30 on the objective you just studied | QuerySpark sets from your notes or the video transcript |
| Domain review | 50 to 100 mixed questions | A practice exam bank from your course or book; QuerySpark on your weakest domain |
| Final week | Two or three full timed practice exams, plus performance-based practice | Official or course practice exams; flashcards for ports and acronyms |
Common ranges candidates use, not official guidance.
Free options
Is there a free Security+ practice test?
Yes, from several places. CompTIA publishes sample questions for its exams, free video courses cover every objective, and many books include practice questions. For drilling one objective at a time from your own notes, QuerySpark gives you 3 free sets a day from pasted text with no account, or a 3-day Pro trial and then 20 questions a month on a free account.
Free generated questions are best for learning. Before you book, it is still worth taking at least one full-length, timed practice exam written to the objectives so you know how the pacing feels.

Miss log
How to review missed CompTIA questions
Tag each miss with its objective number. After a week you will see which domain is dragging your score down, which is more useful than an overall percentage.
Look for look-alike pairs. Many misses come from confusing two similar terms: IDS and IPS, symmetric and asymmetric encryption, RAID 1 and RAID 5, SSH and Telnet. Make a flashcard that asks for the difference, not just the definition.
Read the qualifier. Scenario questions ask for the best, first or most cost-effective option, and more than one answer can be technically true. Explain why the right answer beats the runner-up.
Question types
What QuerySpark writes for CompTIA candidates
Questions come from the material you give it, so they follow your course's examples and the objectives you are studying.
Ports and protocols
Which port, which protocol, which OSI layer: written from your Network+ or A+ notes.
Security scenarios
"Which control best mitigates this?" questions on threats, attacks, cryptography and access control for Security+ and CySA+.
Hardware and troubleshooting
A+ questions on components, storage and RAID, printers, mobile devices and the troubleshooting methodology.
From training videos
Paste a YouTube training video that has captions and get questions from its transcript.
Acronym flashcards
The acronym list is long. Flashcards with spaced repetition bring back the ones you keep mixing up.
CSV, PDF and Word export
Import the CSV into Anki or Quizlet, or print a set to review away from the screen.
Honest limits
What it is not: an official CompTIA practice test
QuerySpark is not affiliated with CompTIA. These are not official practice tests and there is no pass prediction.
It does not write performance-based questions: no simulations, drag-and-drop configuration or matching tasks, which do appear on CompTIA exams.
Each question has one correct answer, so there are no choose-two or choose-three items.
Questions follow your notes. CompTIA revises its exams every few years, so make sure your material matches your exam code's current objectives.

Examples
Example CompTIA practice questions and answers
Examples of what QuerySpark can generate from typical A+, Network+ and Security+ study notes. They are illustrations, not official CompTIA items.
Network+, from a ports and protocols lesson
Which port does HTTPS use by default?
- A.22
- B.80
- C.443
- D.3389
Answer: C. HTTPS uses TCP port 443. Port 22 is SSH, 80 is unencrypted HTTP and 3389 is Remote Desktop Protocol.
Security+, from a cryptography lesson
An administrator wants to confirm that a downloaded installer has not been altered. Keeping the file secret is not a concern. Which is most appropriate?
- A.Encrypt the file with AES
- B.Compare the file's SHA-256 hash with the value the vendor published
- C.Compress the file before storing it
- D.Store the file on an encrypted drive
Answer: B. Hashing provides integrity: if the computed hash matches the published one, the file was not changed. Encryption protects confidentiality, and compression provides neither.
A+ Core 1, from a hardware troubleshooting lesson
A desktop PC loses its date, time and firmware settings every time it is unplugged. What is the most likely cause?
- A.A failing power supply
- B.A failing CMOS battery
- C.A corrupted operating system
- D.Faulty RAM
Answer: B. The CMOS battery keeps the real-time clock and firmware settings while the PC has no power. When it fails, those settings reset whenever the machine is unplugged.
Security+, from a social engineering lesson
An attacker phones the help desk pretending to be a senior executive and urgently demands a password reset. Which technique is this?
- A.Vishing
- B.Smishing
- C.Tailgating
- D.Watering hole attack
Answer: A. Vishing is social engineering by voice call, here combined with impersonation and urgency. Smishing uses text messages, tailgating means following someone through a secured door, and a watering hole attack compromises a website the target visits.

A+ is two exams, Core 1 and Core 2, each with its own objectives. Core 1 covers hardware, mobile devices, networking and hardware troubleshooting; Core 2 covers operating systems, security, software troubleshooting and operational procedures. Study and test each exam's objectives separately.
No. It writes multiple choice and short-answer questions with one correct answer each. Practice performance-based questions with labs, simulations in your course, or official CompTIA practice products.
There is no official number. A common approach is 15 to 30 questions on each objective as you learn it, 50 to 100 mixed questions a day during review, and two or three full timed practice exams in the final week. Many candidates book the exam once they score consistently well on practice exams they have not seen before.
Any certification you have study material for, including A+, Network+, Security+ and CySA+. Questions follow your notes, so check that your material matches the current objectives for your exam code.
